In Japanese, kami are the spirits hidden in nature and everyday things. A lucky charm, say Clara and Elias.
They met in Los Angeles, fell for Japan, and opened their coffee bar in Saint-Gilles in 2019 — after a year of barista training at Mokxa in Lyon. At Kami the coffee is specialty-grade, organic and single-origin; the houseblend espresso sits beside a rotating guest, and the V60 follows whichever lots are in. The rest is homemade or comes from neighbourhood artisans: bread from Hopla Geiss, vegan pastries from Cookie Tree, organic goods from Copro Bio.
